Most of us get these daily bargain emails that have sweeping the country by storm. They offer 50%, 60%, and even up to 90% off your typical pricing. More than a few of my area CrossFit’s are jumping on the bargain hunter bandwagon, PLEASE STOP! Your killing mine and CrossFit’s overall brand!
There are a few things that you should realize:
You are destroying our brand’s worth. I mean why would I pay for something that I already know that I can get somewhere else at such a low cost. CrossFit (most times) provides highly professional strength and conditioning. I know I personally did not gain all this knowledge and experience over night. I am surely not just going to give it away. Technically, by you cutting your prices, you are actually effecting my business as well. If you want some new clients, creatively use social media or actually go outside to meet like minded people.
Personally, I do not want any bargain shoppers at my gym. I want dedicated trainees, not people who are going to sign up, pay and never show. This is not Planet Fitness. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard.
These monster discounts certainly will not make you any money. First, the deal is usually over 50% off, then the company takes their cut, which is going to leave you with squat. No pun intended.
Lastly, once your deal expires, what do you think the chances are that your newly acquired client is not going to look for the next best deal. They will be on to the next and you will have just wasted your time.

Well said. It’s all about being the BEST you can be and leaving someone with that impression. It isn’t about experience, it isn’t about credentials, it isn’t about who you know or where you’ve come from.
It’s about passion, hustle and fueling that energy into an amazing experience for anyone that comes in contact with your brand or product - client or not.

“HUSTLE is the most important word. EVER! And that’s what you need to do. We’re building businesses here, people”.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself

I remember a quote I read when I first started this journey of fitness from Dutch Lowy about staring at the pullup bar, or kettlebell, or wallball, etc and just feeling sorry for yourself. And to shorten that time, to say you’re going to pick it up and just fight —-fight for a few more reps.

Yesterday I was reminded of the mental aspect of this sport when I went out crazy hard and at the 10 minute mark felt like I did not have my breath under control. This hadn’t happened in a while and it shook me. Staring at the bar for toes-to-bar or staring at a light-weight clean bar….slouching, hands on knees.

Composure is half the game. Going straight into the next movement, even for a couple reps is a complete game-changer. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, and attack the movement. You will be better off and not regret or have any “what could have beens”.

Well said. Know it, live it, spread it.
